Mr. Abel Lyimo
DirectorAbel Lyimo holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and Library Science, from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, and a diploma in Marketing from Purdue University, United States. As an economist and Business Advisor he has over 15 years experience in advising business associations and agribusinesses SME's. This includes over 10 years experience of managing agricultural projects and agribusinesses.
He has worked for the Ministry of Finance, Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), Techno Serve and USAID DAI PESA project. Currently, Mr. Lyimo is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rural Urban Development Initiatives (RUDI). RUDI is a local NGOS registered in Tanzania that operates throughout the country. RUDI aims at Improving income and employment opportunities for micro-small enterprises (MSEs), including farms, through market links and information, policy change, strengthened associations, business skills training and Associations’ development. Lyimo is a founding member of RUDI. RUDI implements various projects in Tanzania funded by different donors including the government of Tanzania, USAID, NORAD, FAO, AGRA, OXFAM, Farm Africa etc.
Lyimo’s expertise lies in mobilizing, and providing support to associations including organization and formation of business and producer associations, creating and strengthening associations, developing strategic plans, providing market, credit, and input linkages and assisting associations to identify policy issues that prevent their members from operating efficiently in a free market economy. Lyimo is a certified trade tutor/counselor for the International Trade Centre (ITC), based in Geneva, and a co-founder of the Centre for International Business Development Services (IBDS).
