The Agricultural Council of Tanzania (ACT) In Collaboration with Other Stakeholders Has Achieved The Following

2015

Lobbying the Government to establish the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) and the Agricultural window at Tanzania Investment Bank in the interim. TADB was launched in 2015 is already lending to small scale farmers. ACT had two representatives on the TADB inaugural body.

2015

2010/2011

Lobbying the Government to increase public expenditure in the agricultural sector. In the financial year 2000/2001 the Government spent 2.1 percent of its total budget on the agriculture sector. Through lobbying and advocacy there were gradual budgetary increases each year reaching 7.7 percent in year 2010/2011. With the general budgetary decline across the sectors in 2015/2016 the Government spent 4.5 percent of its total budget on the agriculture sector.

2009

Putting agriculture on top of the political agenda through Kilimo Kwanza Resolve since 2009. Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGOT) was developed as the first programme for implementation of Kilimo Kwanza. ACT successfully coordinated the establishment of the SAGCOT Initiative
